2005 club car iq
i have a 2005 club car iq 48 volt any body know if i can put a 36 colt club car motor in it to improve performance

you should be able to as long as it bolts on right, your not gonna be able to use a old 36 volt with different splines............................

good question and i can,t answer that so maybe somwone who have went that route can jump in...........or maybe i,m wrong and you can,t but i seem to remember reading a few threads that they swapped motors....................

unless the new motor has a built in speed sensor (hall effect senser) the club car factory controller will go into default and only allow 8MPG. with the speed sensor dis-connected
you would need to change controllers to one that doesn't utilize a speed sensor like an alltrex..i myself have a 2005 precedent with an alltrex 500amp controller and stock motor...this setup gives a lot more speed and torque. i would advise a new controller and thicker wires first ..then see if a new motor is needed scottyb ..can help you on the wires |

Definitely not. The IQ car is equipped with a shunt wound motor. The 36 volt motors were all series wound motors. It won't work at all. You'd need a series 48 volt car for this to work.
