Default battery does not last long

I have a battery Ezgo....When I charge it it does not last long. I want to upgrade it from a 36 volt system, but I want ot fix this problem. So what is going on.....I checked the batteries and they are getting fully charged. I am even charging them 2---6 volt batteries at a time. What is going on and what do I need to do
