Had dealer replace brushes

Ezgo dealer burnt brushes while testing batteries. They re-built motor and installed new brushes and now it runs slower. Any Ideas?

It should pick up a little speed after the brushes have had time to seat....but I don't see how in the heck they could have burnt the brushes testing the batteries.

They held the brakes while pressing the gas and held it for a short period of time and motor started to smoke. Had a ticking sound after this happened. dealer said it was brushes.

They said it is how EZGO told them to test the batts.

Find a new dealer.

Obviously they cannot afford a proper load tester, or simply do not want to spend the money to perform the service correctly.

I REALLY think you should post dealer name as a warning to others. Thats just not right.

Yes. Post the dealers name! This reminds me of a post on BU where dealer told a customer to check his batteries by putting the cart up againt a wall and gas it while checking.....

Well somebodys got to say it. WE USE A LOAD TESTER. (No its not a rope and a tree)

You may have a weak battery or two.....optimum run time is 90 minutes, 60 on old batteries. A hydrometer will tell the tale......a bad cel could cause this... How old are the batteries? what is stamped into the posts? Anything? What brand?

Scottyb, my cart runs all weekend on a single charge. I mean many hours.

I think your estimate is rather conservative....
