16 hp idle engages the clutch
I am new so any advise is greatly appreciated. I just put a duro max 16hp engine in my 93 club car ds. Everything is fine it's just that the idle on this engine is high and engages the clutch and I can't shift int gear. I put an power spring in the driven clutch but the commet 780 clutch I have is engaging when it idles. Is there a thing I can do or has anybody else run across this problem with a motor swap.

Re: 16 hp idle engages the clutch
You need to slow down the idle for the engine, check your idle adjustment on the carb.

I've ajusted the idle all the way down and still is to high

Try to find the idle mix screw on the carb and back it off.

Re: 16 hp idle engages the clutch
Ok I don't think it's the idle that's the problem. I took the belt off to see where it engages but it doesn't engage at idle. I have a commet 780 clutch and the hd belt from Vegas carts and I think the 1 inch belt is to wide it doesn't fit all the way down. Can I use a 7/8 wide belt that seems to be the size

Re: 16 hp idle engages the clutch
Belt is probably a bit too tight. Can you move the motor rearward any?

Re: 16 hp idle engages the clutch
Belt is loose. Just won't fit all the way into the 780 clutch. I think they gave me a 1and3/16 belt instead of the 1 inch. Waiting to here back from them

Re: 16 hp idle engages the clutch
Where the belt sits on my comet 780 clutch measures 7/8 of an inch and my belt is 1 inch. Has any one run a cross this. I'm still waiting to here back from Vegas carts
