Default Rebuilt KF82 Engine Source

My dad and I recently acquired an 88 model club car with the KF82 engine. We only paid $200 for it, it's in great shape but the motor is knocking.

I have read about the engine swaps.. but the old man wants to keep it original.

I found a rebuilt engine on ebay for around $700 shipped. Seems high. Do you guys know of a source for a cheaper rebuild?

Here it is:

nice looking cart fro $200

not sure, but $700 for a rebuilt engine (depending on definition of rebuilt) sounds bout right based on what i have seen. since it includes shipping, does it require a core (you send them yours in exchange) J and M Golf Carts was asking $600 with exchange, then have to add in shipping.

seen complete rebuild kits for $500+ then throw in time labor. but make sure you get a COMPLETE kit with everything you need !!

There is a company here in stl that rebuilds engines but I think that is the going price.. Figure that 100 bucks at least is for shipping... And on top of that you shipping the exchange to them is probably in addition to that.

They also sell on eBay.

Thanks guys!

Is there a source for a rebuild kit if we decide to rebuilt it ourselves?

If you have the mechanical ability to do it yourself I would they are pretty simple motors get a service manual and go to town the problem with all these suppliers selling rebuilds is they literally only fix what's broke so it's not a complete rebuild

several places sell rebuild kits, depending on WHAT you want in them. gaskets, pistons, crank, etc. search, decide, pick one, order, and go at it :)

i forgot to tell you the down side of a rebuild is some parts are NLA there are after market parts for rebuilds but some ing parts are NLA from kaw. and you have to find used. mostly ingition parts, coils rev lim. pick ups etc. THAT MOTOR WAS BUILT FOR GENERATORS ON FLASHING ARROW ROAD SIGNS,till kaw sold it to club car
