how to tell if i blow the pulsar or ignitor?
so i have been trying to get this cart running for a year now and finally did last night, i did the HEI conversion and that helped out alot. problem now is that the red wire going to the pulsar to the ignitor toughed my exhaust and i heard a pop then the cart died. what was that pop? i have no fuses on that line so did i just fry something bad?
please i dont just want to start replacing all the parts i just put on to see what i fryed thanks for the help |

Re: how to tell if i blow the pulsar or ignitor?
Page R-5 tells how to test the pulsar. You can also set your meter to AC volts, and crank it over while connected to the pulsar wires. You should see around .5 volt.
There was never a way to test the ignitor. That's why the HEI is usually done. I don't know if there is a way to test the HEI module. I'm assuming that the cart still turns over, and doesn't start because there is no spark. Is that a correct assumption? |

alright i will try that today, yes it cranks over but no spark. is it possible to fry the ignitor or pulsar if the wire grounded out like it did?

Shorting anything out to ground like that is bad. I have a feeling that the pulsar is more robust than the HEI module.
When I bought my Accel 35361 module, is was only $16. I see they are now $46 on Amazon. |

You are eliminated the firing it seems. What is the compression ? How about fuel ? Spark plugs ?

The pop could have been a crankshaft seal blowing out.

Re: how to tell if i blow the pulsar or ignitor?
Had that happen today actually because I didn’t stake them in placed when I replaced them Friday..... I read all about it but it slipped my mind.
When the seal pops out (87 ezgo here as well) the cart will just crank and as soon as the seal is back in it will fire right up. I’m placing bets that it was a seal. |
