2017 Ezgo txt is too fast and sputters when warm

Cart was used in a course previously and new to me.

Cart is very fast and never needs choke to start.
It seems like it might be getting to much gas, sometimes I smell gas
Once the engine warms up, it starts to get jumpy, backfires and sputters, but still runs very fast.
I have adjusted the throttle cable at the back where it attaches to the governor spring but I can’t seem to find a position that helps the problem.
There was a lot of slack in the throttle cable so I currently have it adjusted out so there is less slack.

Any ideas what could be causing this?
