Default Anyone Have a G2 Ignitor They Would Loan Me?

Hello, does anyone have a working Yamaha G2 ignitor they would be willing to loan me? I am trying to figure out if my inconsistent performance is due to a failing ignitor. I do not want to buy one until I can confirm the ignitor is bad.

Hmm, maybe if someone has a spare. Loaning out electrical parts is sketchy though. If there's a short in your wiring it could kill the CDI as soon as you plug it in. I've had it happen.

How would you recommend that I eliminate the ignitor as a source of inconsistent performance? The cart has many new parts, has had the fuel pump rebuilt, , new fuel filter and lines, valves adjusted, new plug, and still only revs once inside while. It runs rough sometimes and good sometimes.

I mean if you have exhausted all other wearable parts and parts that get dirty etc, then the electronic ignition would be the next step. Have you replaced the coil? When it comes to the ignition components, I would never use anything except Yamaha parts.

I would first check all the wiring meticulously. Look for disconnects, kinks, shorts, frays, etc. Mice, dirt, friction, bumps, all can wear the wiring through over many years of use. In my experience, when a CDI goes, it just goes, no spark at all. There have been cases where the CDI has been replaced with a cheap china copy, those things are junk and should not be used. I would check your CDI to verify that it is a Yamaha part.

Is there a process for testing a coil or is it a shot in the dark? I agree on OEM parts.
