Default Put new belt on not impressed yet

I put the shorter belt on my cart yesterday in five minutes and paid $35 for it and fell like i wasted money on it. It may have slowed the cart down if anything. I havent tried climbing any hills yet though hopefully i will notice when i do that.

I bought the one from napa with the part number 6098

1st = The NAPA belt was not the suggested belt. OEM Ezgo 2 stroke belt was suggested.
2nd = it was suggested for hill climbing improvement only
3rd = if you read the posts which suggested this, you should have expect a loss in top end speed.

That is what I got out of reading that thread--

improve hill climbing and a loss in top end speed.

I saw the some people saying the one from napa is the same.

Angle Code : F
Application Type : Recreational Vehicles
Belt Angle : 32 Deg
Belt Type : Snowmobile V-Belts (Standard)
Material : Kevlar
Notched Belt : Yes
Outside Circumference (in) : 40.38"
Outside Circumference (mm) : 1026 mm
Top Width (in) : 1.19"
Top Width (mm) : 30 mm

these are the specs on the napa belt i bought. should i take it back and get the ezgo belt? or is this one the same as ezgo belt?

I'm with Rib..... The belt did exactly what is was supposed to, your expectations are a little high... You are dealin with only 9 to 11 ponies depending on your engine, so changing your belt is not going to turn this thing into a powerhouse. A big block is your only option for some real power. A belt will give you low end torque and lower top end speed. The cart is what it is and nothing more.

4 stroke belt 1-1/8 x 42 od
2 stroke belt 1-3/16 x 41 od

It is just a belt change intended to aid in hill climbing (low range) by restricting the high gear range.....

Is your govenor unhooked?if not do that first. The next things are with a stock-belt,i haven't tried a shorter one yet.Second, remove outer cover of Primary-Clutch(engine-mounted)remove the spring and add 3/16" -1/4" shim under the spring then reassemble. This will give you more rpm for engagement and pulls better, especially if you have 22" tires.Third,Disassemble the Secondary-Clutch.remove the shim between the sheaves(this closes the width and makes the belt ride higher for more low-end).You can also shim this spring to make it shift later.try the same amount of shims here as the Primary and adjust both to your liking but only adjust one at a time.Mine is a 85 Marathon w/22" tires, and both clutches done this way.The only other mod on mine is a gutted muffler(mainly because it was all broken loose inside and sounded awful, but it does run better.Hope this helps.

I changed to shorter belt on my 02 workhorse and IT did increase my UP hill torque, not much change on top speed , I am very pleased. Wish I could do something like thi9s on my Yamaha 95 G14
