Re: Help with 88 Marathon
Thank you Panchanga! I knew you would come through with some very helpful information. It's all clear as mud at the moment, but as I reread all these words of wisdom I know it will become more clear. Thank you again and I sure I will be asking more greenhorn questions later.

Re: Help with 88 Marathon
Remember you can't buy knowledge, read alot and watch carefully and take your time as you do it,then you absorb it.I do stuff daily and might not do a certain thing for years, but when it comes up,i'm like oh yea, this is done like this.Glad to help.

Re: Help with 88 Marathon
Yep, lots of great info around here.
Hey, heres a ridiculously cheap way to lift up to 500 lbs..... Harbor Freight has a $7 rope hoist.... basically a small block & tackle. |

Re: Help with 88 Marathon
The lift went great. Gas line has plenty of slack, redid the in intake. Dropped it off the jacks, looks cool...but, now turn the key, put it in gear, the motor fires up without touching the throttle and when I do push on the gas it barely moves in either direction. Now what????

Re: Help with 88 Marathon
Ok, found that problem, the throttle cable was in a bind and not allowing the carb to operate properly, in a effect, it was flooding out. Now the brakes are the next problem to work on.

Re: Help with 88 Marathon
Here's the latest pics of my project. Next is brakes, drive clutch and Rednecktifying it. After the lift, it's running 17mph, (the governor is still attached) according to my gps.
