2000 EzGo TXT Gas
I just finished rebuilding the engine in my 2000 ezgo txt. I took it to a machine shop and had them bore it out with oversized pistons and rings. I also replaced valves and had the machine shop cut them in. All seals and gaskets were replaced during the install. I assembled the motor according to the manual and followed the torque specs, timing, and valve adjustment. The problem I am having is that the cart has very little power and can't even go up a small hill. Compression is only at 90 after the rebuild. I have literally taken this motor apart and put it back together 3 times trying to see if there is something I did wrong. Haven't found anything. Please help.

Did you check compression with throttle manually held wide open ?

Possibly one tooth out on the timing belt. But unlikely if you have torn the engine down several times!

Yes, I manually held the throttle open during compression check. I made sure the timing belt was correct. I rotated the engine several times while the cover was off to make sure it stayed in time.

You could try removing the muffler and redoing the compression test. If it improves a lot. Try driving without the muffler.

Re: 2000 EzGo TXT Gas
Your compression is too low. Pour a teaspoon of oil in cylinder and see if compression goes up

Re: 2000 EzGo TXT Gas
Just to ask, did you check the ring end gap before you installed the pistons and rings?
Have you tried putting a cap full of oil in the spark plug hole and rechecking “wet” compression? |

Yes, everything is within specs. I did the wet compression test with very little change. Went up maybe 10 lbs.

I would think if your engine only shows 90 psi of compression it wouldn't even run but I don't think I ever tried to make one run when its that low. I do know if one of these carts is by chance overcharging they will act like something is wrong with the engine as they have no power. Just making sure to check these things because I am out of ideas . |
