Yep. Pretty much that's it. Just follow the directions. I think the hardest part for folks has been finding the harness but I think it's still available. Good luck!.

Ok. Im new here and with a g1 and problems with the c di fix. I can start it up but when I go to accelerate it starts cutting out. Ok with that said i can touch the connection of the two diodes where they are soldered together and meets the wire that goes to c di and it runs fine. But without touching at this spot starts cutting out. Any suggestions. Maybe the c di is bad or what?

I'm not sure if would work but the cdi for the 1980s Yamaha enticer 250cc snowmobile is a dead ringer for the cdi on the g1. You probably would have to add the two diode circuit on the trigger for it to work in reverse but that's no big deal. There is an aftermarket Kimpex version that is only about $50. Kimpex part #01-415

I have been looking on how to do this for my Yamaha G2 and I found this thread along with previous research that has allowed me to put together a probable solution with a GY6 DC CDI that may work. I haven't tested it yet but I have all of the parts needed to do it and I will confirm if it works whenever I try it. I have uploaded a diagram and I will send the links to the parts when 7 days pass and I am allowed to post links. Not sure how the photo looks so Pin 1 is the pulsar coil with W/R and W/B connected with diodes like the beginning of this thread, Pin 2 is the orange ignition wire going to the ignition coil, Pin 3 is ground, pin 4 is blank, pin 5 is blank and pin 6 is power (12 volt). Not sure whether power is from the R/W wire or just constant power but ill update on this when I try it.

Does anyone have a clearer pic of which way the diodes go?
