Smart-Link monitor gadget
I recently installed one of these on my cart: http://www.pro-fitparts.com/products/smart-link.html, mainly because I'm sort of (well, REALLY) a gadget freak. It monitors your batteries for SOC, voltage, current out/in, and speed. The readout is an app on your smart phone, which is what is used for the speed display. The SOC is calculated based on current/time draw, compared to the AH rating of your pack. There's an optional lockout wiring harness available that allows you to lock your cart using the phone app, so no one can drive it away. The app will also alert you to low SOC and remind you of required service/maintenance.
Side benefit: there is now only a single lead going to the Negative terminal of your battery. Hint: you may want to cut the small red wire that goes to the Positive of the pack and crimp in a bullet connector or equivalent to make it easier to reboot the gadget. I had trouble downloading the app to my iPhone, but an email to their customer service was answered promptly with instructions that worked. Neat outfit!! |

Re: Smart-Link monitor gadget
If you follow the link, you can read the installation instructions and the users' guide. There are pictures of the various screens, including history of battery charges/discharges. See: http://www.pro-fitparts.com/sluserguide.pdf BTW: the voltage reading from the app/gadget agrees with the DVM from ScottyB that's on my dash.
FWIW: the mounting bracket bolted right to my RXV, no drilling required. You may have to drill a hole, depending on your cart, and a bolt is included. Disclaimer: I have no connection to Pro-Fit Parts, just a satisfied customer. |

Re: Smart-Link monitor gadget
Yea, done one on a rxv, pretty trick. I actually mounted mine on the inner fender, i aint mounting nothing right above a battery terminal, where it would sit on a 8v rxv (service/maintenance nightmare). I thought the included 1/4-20 bolts for the battery cable terminals were a joke, i drilled the holes out for 5/16 hardware.
