Re: My cart is steering me crazy!!!
Jayco, I saw this once on a car I worked on. Someone had previously left the steering linkage loose, or had disconnected it when installing the rack and pinion, and had the rack actually turned one or two revolutions one direction. This caused the steering to turn sharply in one direction but hardly enough in the other. The rack was not centered when reinstalled. We disconnected the steering linkages. Then manually turned the rack clockwise and counterclockwise until we were able to find the true "centerpoint" of the steering rack. Then we reinstalled the steering linkage. Now the wheel was off, but we redid the alignment and all was back to normal.
My best guess is someone had taken your steering gear box/rack out. And did not center it before reinstalling. Either that or the linkage came loose, and through turning the wheel it essentially slipped on the connection to the rack and caused the wheel center to actually be off by a turn or a half. The way to know if this is the issue is to check if your linkage is tight. Then turn wheel from center left. Count how many revolutions. Then go back to center. Then count how many right. If these numbers aren't the same, it's a rack or linkage issue. |

Re: My cart is steering me crazy!!!
Look at your steering rod as it comes out of the cylinder to the tie rod.(its in one of your pictures you posted).... It is not coming out straight from the cylinder. It kind of curves toward the front of the cart......(cylinder on the right is bent back)
Long story short your steering cylinder mount plate is bent. (The Flat Plate) Its real easy to do just hit something with one tire or the other and its bent. You can bend it going forward or backwards. You just need to bend it back so the tie rod end goes straight out from the cylinder. There should be no angles or bends and the rod should come straight out of the cylinder. When its bent you will not be able to turn the wheel the same number of turns to each side. Its kind of a pain to straighten but you might be able to bend it the right direction with a large jawed adjustable wrench. Hopefully you don't have to replace it. Hope it helps. Eric |

Yeah. I have yet to get to this.
I attempted to do it yesterday, but it seems the jam nut on the tie rod on the passenger side is fused with the actual tie rod. |

Re: My cart is steering me crazy!!!
Remember you've got a left hand thread on the jam nut on the driver's side and a regular right hand thread on the passenger side. Put a pair of vise grips on the tie rod to keep it from spinning.
