Default New batteries today, light came on after 13 holes

Put in New Crown 190 batteries in my 2001 Club car today. Light came on and the red wire coming from the controller (?) to start on the positive terminal was very warm to touch. Is this normal? Also the red wire that goes to the forward/reverse switch was corroded so I put a new copper connecteor, that is on the same positive post as the other red wire. All the other battery cables are new except the red and black cables that run to the motor or controller. I sure do not want to hurt my new batteries, any help would be appreciated.

Did you charge them before use?

First off it sounds like you have a bad connection. That is making things get hot. Maybe you did not get a good connection to the new connector you installed. Second - if you just got new batteries, they need to be charged before use. They don't usually come fully charged.

Plus it'll take several cycles before they are at full potential.

They were fully charged before I used them. Sorry I forgot to put that. Would the copper make a difference? The one before was not copper

I ordered them and when I got to the shop they were on trickle chargers. The guy told me they were charged anyway. Is it normal for the red wire to be hit to touch?

Yes, for the better. The other was probably copper also, just corroded.

It is not normal for any wires to be hot to the touch! Slightly warm after a hard run is ok.
