Default White smoke 88 36v club car

Picked up and 88 club car. Put new battery cables on it and put it in reverse. I was met with a loud clunk sound, some white smoke and the smell of burning electronics. Now when I hit the gas the solenoid makes a click but the car doesn't go.

Any thoughts? Going to start a total tear down on it this week.

Electronics are powered by smoke. If the smoke gets out they stop working

Did you see the origin of the smoke? Control, motor, etc? What model number controller? FSIP will do test and advise for a small fee. They can tell you if it's functional and if not repair it while its in their hands if you wish.

Find the source of the smoke and you will find what needs replacing.

It only smoked the one time and it was just in the bay under the seat when we lifted it up so not sure where it came from. The motor is a GE Bad-boy, (5BC49JB1115 4HP 48V 4150 RPM) but I'm not sure of the model number on the controller right now. I will check.

Please help the newbie out here. What is FSIP? Also, appreciate you helping thus far.

So as an update, the batteries are full charged, when I put the key in and turn it on almost immediately I get a burning smell from the motor area. There isn't any smoke and the car won't go.

Any input?

Do not ground anything to the frame in an electric cart ever. If u reattached it you are asking for a fire that you can't control.
Fsip is a mfr flight systems industrial products they make controllers
Stop trying to make it run until u verify every wire is going to the right place. Have u done that?
