2000 36v Club Car DS: Reverse Only
2000 36v Club Car DS V/Glide.
The cart was running well with a good charge, drove a short distance and parked, It backed up as normal when I switched into forward it lurched forward slightly and stopped no forward. I switched into reverse and that worked, in the forward position the solenoid was clicking slightly, no forward. I connected the charger and noticed the amp meter was showing about 5 amps; normally it would start at about 15 amps and drop down slowly. I actuated the pedal, with the charger connected, and had forward one time and it never worked again, just the solenoid clicking it still has reverse. The solenoid was just replaced about three weeks ago. Thank in advance for your help. |

Re: 2000 36v Club Car DS: Reverse Only
Sounds like the F&R switch may have failed

Re: 2000 36v Club Car DS: Reverse Only
I was hoping not to start by just replacing parts.
A visual inspection of the switch shows no signs of wear, heat damage or connection heat damage. Could the limit switch have anything to do with the cause? Thanks in advance for your help. |

If the solenoid clicks, the limit switches are good.

Re: 2000 36v Club Car DS: Reverse Only
If you have an original F&R chances are good it's due for replacement. The main contacts are wear items.
Swap the 2 cables with the small bolt connections in the center of the switch. If this reverses the trouble direction then the switch main contacts have failed. |

Re: 2000 36v Club Car DS: Reverse Only
It appears to be the original F&R switch.
The swap would be the white 6 awg wire to the solenoid and the purple 6 awg wire to the motor, center positions of the switch. Thanks in advance for your help. |
