Default 88 DS Briggs swap

My 88 DS has the KF82 engine. While it still runs ok, the compression only tests out at 90 psi, and I'm pretty certain I've seen a couple this blue clouds behind it. I was looking at a Predator 13hp clone for next year. But I came across a Briggs 11.5hp for $40. Im looking to find out if this is worth it. Will the original CC clutch fit? Maybe an adapter? How does a Briggs stack up in quality against a clone? Any info would be appreciated.

What's the shaft size?
If it's a 1" in diameter with at least, I think, 1" in in length you can use your stock clutch with an adapter.
Someone will know how much length you will need in length, if it's longer you will have to cut the shaft down and retap it for the bolt.
For $40 I'd use what you have and swap that in

I think the main thing to consider is your end goal. If you just want an engine to put around in the briggs might be fine. However if you are looking to gain speed and power the clone is a much better choice since there are a lot of performance options. One other point is the with the clone there is plenty of swaps done already so most issues have a solution maybe no so with the briggs.
