Default Should the main solenoid click?

85 club car ds feels a little jerky at take off. In forward when you slowly push the gas 1 st click nothing, second click creeping, 3rd click you pick up speed and 4 th and final click your hauling. I jacked up the rear and all solenoids are clicking except the main. Is the main bad? If it was bad wouldn't the cart not run at all ?

I would think that first click you hear (when you don't get movement yet) is the main. What do you think IS making that first click? Do you have a Dvm that you can check what power you have when? I guess if it's working you probably don't really have a problem.

IN the 5 solenoid CC the 1st click is the main solenoid ( driver's side) It simply connects power to the 4 speed(s) solenoids. There is no movement upon the 1st click.

Ok well I'm only getting 4 clicks I have tried to put my hand on them to feel if they are clicking when I depress the gas but it is difficult. Should I be getting a 5th click?

The main problem is that you should hear 5 clicks, not 4.

You need to find the missing 5th click.

Raise one rear wheel for safety.

Turn the key switch ON.

Put the FNR in Neutral.

Reach with your finger and press the FNR micro-switch so it is ON.

This will allow the Solenoids to engage without sending any power to the motor.

Press the pedal slowly as you measure the voltage on each Solenoid coil to make sure the corresponding micro-switch is engaging and sending +36v to the coil.

If You have +36v at the coil and the solenoid is not clicking, replace the solenoid.

If You don't get +36v at the coil, replace the corresponding micro-switch.

Ok I'm missing 3rd gear the #4 solenoid is getting no power! I used my volt meter and I'm getting 36-37 volts on all solenoids except the 4th one, its showing 0 volts so is this a bad solenoid or do I have a bad micro switch?

It seems like you have a bad ms. You have verified that with your test meter
