1999 ez go

I have a 99 ez go with robins engine. I put new carb on and had running perfect. Sat for 3 weeks now won’t run. Put new vac lines and fuel lines and pump on. Still nothing. Have spark at plugs but not a great deal. Not sure how much I should have. I have swapped coils as well. I got it running last night after new lines and pump. Drove around yard cut it off and now can’t get it back running. I got it fired a few times but can’t now.

When it won't start check the plugs and see if they are wet or dry.

Probably going to have to methodically go through the troubleshooting process. Would the engine have been well warmed up when you shut it off? If so, it could indicate the igniter is getting warm and not working until it cools. But it seems to run fine the entire time you get it running, just won't restart?

Well I got it going ride around yard stopped then got Rigt back on and it wouldn’t go. Hooked battery charger to it and it started then unhooked and it tried to move and went real slow the stopped. Battery voltage. Checked at 11.5 but that could be surface charge. Then after tying a few times again it wouldn’t start at all

Sounds to me like the battery may be marginal. But that wouldn't necessarily be the only issue.

I agree could the igniter be going bad? micro switch?

Either or both. You will have to work through a process of elimination.

It could have enough battery power to start and run but if the generator doesn't recharge the battery it drops in power and fails to be able to run the ignition. As I recall, this system relies on the battery to power the ignition. The generator recharges the battery. This is not an automotive alternator.

I would suspect the battery first. If it checks out that it is capable of holding a charge for a reasonable amount of time then look to the generator's ability to properly charge the battery.

If you have a volt meter, put the probes across the battery. You should see around 13.6 volts with a good battery. You say you have 11.5 so straight away we see an issue. Keep the voltmeter connected to the battery and watch the voltage as you try to start the cart. It should drop to no less than 10.5 volts then rise to at least 13.6 once the engine starts. If your voltages are lower but on start up it rises above 14 then the generator is good but the battery is toast. If your voltages are low and it does not rise above the test voltage of 11.5 when it starts. Then suspect an issue with the generator. If the voltage drops below 10 volts, then you are probably losing spark while cranking therefore will not fire. Come back to us with you voltage readings and we can diagnose further.

In front of the battery should be a plastic cover hiding some electrical connections. Wiggle some wires around in there. It’s a long shot but I had that similar problem last week. Good luck!
