89 Marathon gas wiring diagram

Hi all,

I picked up an 89 marathon for free.

It's a basket case to say the least, but it was free.

I plan to do an HEI conversion, new voltage regulator, basic tune up and replace the wiring. This thing has obliviously been messed with before it came to me since the wiring is extra crispy. I'm struggling to find a wiring diagram for this thing so I can get it up and running before investing any extra money in wheels/lift/seat/fun parts.

I also have a two wires into a single connector coming from the engine that goes nowhere. Where does this thing belong?

Anyone have a link or suggestion?

The HEI wiring diagram on the first post of the HEI sticky thread should be what you use. The two wires coming out of the engine are going to be your pulsar coil. They will end up connected to your HEI module. One question I have on the HEI wiring diagram is the ground going from the HEI module to the - post on the voltage regulator. Any reason that can't just connect to the ground strap?

The difference between the 85 diagram, and the 89 diagram is that there is an extra microswitch mounted on the FnR switch on the newer carts. It's connected in series with the key switch, and the pedal switch. The pedal switch is being identified as the limit switch in the 85 diagram.
