Default 96 club car ds 290

a friend of mine has a club car ds with a 290 engine
he can start it up and then after driving about 2 miles it dies and looses spark tried taking the ground wire off the rev limiter and it still dies should I replace the coil and igniter any help would be great

I have a 08 Precedent that had the same issue! I replaced the ignition coil on Saturday and NO ISSUE now...

Probably the coil. Had two of those fail last year, exactly the same symptoms.

The fun part is getting the side cover off those older 290s. I decided to do some modifying with the dremel...
