Default 98 Workhorse Reverse Gone

I have a 98 Workhorse (2 shift cables for F/R) that we put the VG clone conversion kit in about 5-6 months ago, and yesterday lost reverse. Forward still works just fine, shift cables were replaced during the conversion. The rocker on the rear axle (pic for clarity because I don't know what its actually called) is moving both ways when shifted to either forward or reverse with little (I would call normal) resistance. I tried seeing if I could move it further one way or the other and it seems to be moving at its max direction (either way) when shifted from forward to reverse using the shift lever.

I haven't put it in the air to see if a hub was stripped but if it was wouldn't I not have forward as well?

If I have to tear into the axle does anyone have a schematic of these rear-ends that they could share or at least tell me if there is a gear in the axle that is responsible for reverse ONLY that could be gone?

TIA

Have you tried removing the cables and shifting it manually - all the way in each direction.

A stripped hub will be evident if the axle nut turns and the wheel does not. Best tested on the ground.

I haven’t removed the cables no, but from the conversion I know how much they move in either direction (when I had both cables off to replace then) and they seem to be fully going both directions. It’s odd to happen the way it did, no abnormal sound, erratic action... just won’t go into reverse. Forward works perfect with no issues.
