BV18 Carburetor
I'm still very new to the cart world. Also don't know much about carburetors. So, when you push down on the gas paddle. Does that open or close the throttle plate? I'm having a backfire issue. I pulled the carb off it's in the open position. When I move the lever on top it closes the throttle plate.

Re: BV18 Carburetor
When you push down on the gas pedal it opens the throttle plate. These carbs are a little strange in that they are sprung to be wide open if no cable is attached. The throttle cable holds it closed with tension until you push the pedal. Do you have a spring between the cable end and the throttle arm on the carb? Without that spring you usually get a backfire.

Re: BV18 Carburetor
I do have a spring before the cable stop. I must have the cable connected at the wrong spot somewhere. Is the cable suppose to push the carb open or close it?

Re: BV18 Carburetor
When I push down on the gas peddle it pulls the cable back to the firewall pulling the lever to the closed position. I'm starting to think that I bought a lemon.

Re: BV18 Carburetor
This what I have. The throttle cable going from a lever in a box on the firewall to the carb. I've taking a couple pictures. none of the cables connected at the moment. I just put the carb back on quick to take a picture.

I also noticed in your pics it has a home made throttle cable, you'll need to order up a new one and dig in to that linkage plate to make the new cable push out when pressing down the peddle..Good luck |
