I did replace the primary with an aftermarket earlier this year but it's essentially stock.
When pulling the roller on fresh gravel it has to get a little bit of a running start, otherwise the cart will sink into the gravel and the tires will just dig and spin. I have a big custom made wood bed on the back that's maybe 150 lbs, custom bed mount and custom trailer hitch, so there is some weight on it.

I do have a torque spring in the secondary clutch on our Transporter 6 seater cart, and wound the sheave an extra 1/3 of a turn to get a bit more pre-load on it and it made a heck of a difference climbing hills. Really don't notice any difference in overall top speed, just takes a little bit longer to get there.
Thanks, that's great info. Gives me a better idea of what to expect.

I'm looking at two different club car drive clutches. 101833902 and 101833904. Supposedly they will both fit. In my 2004-2005 parts manual, the 902 fits Carryall 1,2,2xrt ,252. The 903 fits Carryall 2 plus, turf and Carryall 6, what's the main difference between the two of them? I have an old clutch that came off my Carryall 2 plus with the Fe350, and it fits the Fe290 shaft just fine.

On drive clutch the main difference is the spring a far as I know.
The pedal start motors have a softer spring in the clutch so it engages basically as soon as the engine starts.
The key start motors have a stiffer spring so the engine will idle without the clutch engaging.
