Default Can a stock 36v controller handle 48v?

Hello all, I don’t know much about EZGOs and I think I know the answer but would go ahead and ask. My neighbor just bought an TXT 36v series I think 2003, I will verify that in a little bit, and the batteries are shot in it. He got about a month out of them after he bought it. Does the controller in that cart need to be updated to go to 48v? Thanks

Most likely, but i think it’s written on the back, and if not, a model number will be for sure. You can look it up or post here and someone will know.

No, not reliably. I have seen them go poof instantly, I have seen them last a few weeks, but I have not seen a stock 36v controller last a long time on 48 volts.

My stock 36v marathon controller lasted about a month, then lost all "oomph", took 2 blocks to build up speed. But, I have heard of people trying it & not even getting 5 feet out if it. Dont fry it, the stock controller can be sold to recoup some of the upgrade $.
