Default Marathon gas electrical help neede

i need some help!!!

i just picked up a '94 marathon, gas engine
i finally got it to crank, i get spark to the coil but not to the plugs

i'm having doubts on the starter/generator wiring.
the one big cable from the starter solenoid works, there is a smaller cable from the side below does that go to the voltage regulator?

and there is a white wire coming from the pickup sensor inside the timing cover i do not know where that goes???

i need wiring for dummies. electrical is not my thing

A dangling white wire with no home is for an optional oil pressure light.

On the side of the starter is a small wire terminal stamped DF. That wire is usually green. Yes, it goes to the voltage regulator. If your regulator is the rounded corner metal box with 3 terminals, the green wire goes to the center terminal.

Green attached to voltage regulator (middle terminal)

White wire dangles.

Changed out ignition coil, still power to coil, no spark to plugs. Power to switch, power to solenoid.

Maybe the control box? Or the pick up inside the crank cover?

The dangling white wire is standard on 4 stroke Marathons. Ignore it. I am leaning toward pulsar coil but would check it before changing it as that will be a fairly big job. I have linked a thread in which testing one is discussed.

Here is a manual that will help troubleshoot the electrics. It's a Textron manual but the later model Marathons are the same setup. Most Marathon Manuals are for 2 strokes.

Id say the .1 isnt enough to generate spark, but this is just not my area of expertise. I can say that if I had it and everything else checked out, I'd try a new pulsar coil. I am fairly sure you will have to pull the engine to get the flywheel off to change it though. You also have to be very careful in putting on the new one, as the ignition timing can be affected by the position of the pulsar. I can tell you all about pulling the engine, pulling the flywheel, and changing the pulsar, BUT I dont want to advise YOU to do that and it not fix the issue.

You need a meter that has a scale of 20 AV Volts on it. If you have the dial on 200 AC Volts you will get what yours is reading. I have did this many times while checking a pulser and when I make the mistake of using the 200 scale I get the exact same reading as you do.
My bet is nothing is wrong with your pulser. Almost 100 % sure to be exact.

I can pull the flywheel while in the cart, i already did it once.

I have another pulsar on the way, I’ll install it tonight and see what happens. After that.

Then Maybe after that, a 5 gal jug of gasoline and a couple of matches. Lol
