1997 Lighting/Accessories question
Hello! Newbe here and I really mean it! No mechanical/labor skill or experience what so ever!
Now with that being said, my best idea ever was to purchase a 1997 Club Car DS, non running and has been sitting in a barn for over 10 years. With the help of YouTube I was able to get this cart running in about 3 weeks (working on it off and on). Now to the root of my question, my next task is making it street legal. By adding headlights/tail lights/turn signals and all that jazz, where do I connect it all to? Will the one solenoid on the cart be enough to handle all of that? If so where about do I connect it on the solenoid, as all the post are already being utilized? Do I need to install another solenoid? Or do I connect it to the battery? My ultimate goal is to install all of the necessary lights to make it street legal, add under glow lights, along with a dual USB charger, Bluetooth speaker and/or a CD player. Please keep in mind that I am VERY VERY new to this whole mechanical stuff. Thank you in advance!! |

You won't need another solenoid. All that stuff will work right off your battery.

Re: 1997 Lighting/Accessories question
Appreciate your enthusiasm and vision. But.......you are going down a path of a potential dangerous situation. If you don't understand electrical theory and application, you can melt wires, hurt yourself/others and a potential fire. The solenoid on the cart is for the starter. Stay away from that. I feel like you have been doing some reading on the interwebs regarding solenoids, etc. What you are up against is whether you want the lighting/accesories to stay on if the cart is turned off or whether they should be on and off with the key. What you want to do is somewhat complicated and involved. Totally doable, but more than I can describe here. I would suggest getting some help from someone who understands these things already or dive deep into how 12volt electrics work and how to utilize switches, grounds, solenoids, power strips etc. Not trying to discourage you, just want you and the cart to be safe.
