upgrade or not?
Greetings,
I am new to the forum, and I am in need of opinions. I have purchased a nice running 1998 medalist DCS cart. it looks to have a new Curtis 1206SX 300 amp controller, and it as 6 36 volt trojan batteries. I want to take the cart hunting. I have always liked the looks of the Jake long travel lift kit, so that is the kit I am buying, along with some fender flares. I also love the look of the mud lite tires, so that is the tire type I want. I have a few questions... What is the factory rim size? Wy do so many people put the larger rim size on their lifted carts? Do they not make the larger tires for the factory size rims? If I go with a 10" rim w/ 22" tires, and upgrade my wiring to 4 gauge, is the curtis controller putting out 300 amps enough? If not, what would you recommend? Thanks, Mike |

Re: upgrade or not?
I wouldn't recommened the curtis for a lifted hunting cart. I have had very little luck with them.

This is what I have purchased so far; Alltrax 400 amp controller, upgraded solenoid, 4gauge wire, Jake's long travel lift kit (6" I believe), 23X10X10 Swamp Fox 6 Ply Steel Wheel Combo. Hopefully this will get me around out in the hunting fields this winter. I will add 2 more 6v batteries in the future to get to 48v, but that is down the road. Mike |

Re: upgrade or not?
Welcome!
I hope you have enough HP for those 23's. If not, you may need 48v sooner than later. And part of your upgrade should involve removing each battery and washing them. Then reinstall, add terminal dressing, and keep them clean with a garden hose each week. |

Re: upgrade or not?
I hope your controller is rated for 36-48 to accomodate your upgrade plans .... By the way the cart is a TXT not a Medalist. Please post more pics of the Flag Bike in the background

Re: upgrade or not?
Scotty, the cart IS in fact a Medalist, but it's NOT a '98.

Re: upgrade or not?
Scotty - It has the metal body, so I would say it's a Metalist. Now, I didn't see the toggle switch, but I did see the decal over the controller cover? I'm thinking this is a series cart? Better for him if it is
