I think I will place the battery in a battery box to prevent this from happening again. |

Re: Transformation of the Tracecave Buggie
I have a plastic tray under mine from someplace, but only .5" tall it does not do that much. I think part of it is fumes not necessarily acid as my batteries have never overflowed that I know of. Think just the bottom of a battery box is the answer I have one here someplace from a boat not sure why its not in the cart. I did find new hold down rods at a farm & home place here, TSC might have them only a couple bucks. Also maybe my voltage reg is charging too high not checked it in a long time, that could cause more fumes.

Re: Transformation of the Tracecave Buggie
Do yourself a favor, while you have the steering box exposed, take the top plate off..pack the box with grease. Now adjust the pitman tension bolt (a 1/4 turn at a time) in and turn the steering wheel lock to lock. When you feel any "bind", back off the bolt till there is no bind and tighten the jam nut. That will give you the tightest steering possible for your car. Keep the pix's and reports comeing

Well so far I cleaned the body panels with bleach and then going to follow the instructions in this link. painting plastic bodies As far as the frame I have just done the front by pressure washing and degreasing everything and then taking maroon scotchbrite and scuffing up all the frame and rails then applying "Hammered" paint I found at Lowes in the spray can. It really covers up a lot of imperfections and gives it kinda a wrinkled finish. Its a little high but 3 cans should do everything and its durable. |

Re: Transformation of the Tracecave Buggie
Well not much progress. This shows the frame and shocks painted and the lift installed. Big difference! Now getting the rear frame ready for the lift. Need to paint it too.
I bought the McMaster Carr springs to go over the shocks to make them stiffer but have yet to figure out how to compress the springs enough to swap them out. Any ideas? |
