Re: g1086 IGNITER
welcome to BGW al. there is no test for an ignitor. you can only swap it with a known good one. there are other tests you can do on your system, but need to know what type and year of cart. a hei conversion might be the best option if you do have a bad ignitor.

Re: g1086 IGNITER
HEI conversion is great. So very simple, and if it fails, you can get a new one at the junkyard or at an auto parts place for about $15.Plus, these can be tested at said auto parts place. It's a win/win.

Re: g1086 IGNITER
Big Al, Welcome.
There are 137 separate reasons that your cart won't start so whilst it is correct to state that the only way to test an ignitor is by substitution, are you sure that it is the ignitor? If your pulsar is bad or your ground strap to the block is bad or the 12 volt line to the coil is bad or ............... well you get the point. In any of these cases the HEI modification (which in itself is a great idea) will a) not work and b) cause you to weep bitter tears of rage and frustration. So the question is, are you sure it is the ignitor and not, for example, a shorted wire from the pulsar. If you want to step through a logical fault finding procedure then I am happy to walk you through it. Dave |
