Default Potentiometer with ITS controller

First post to a great site! Thank for all of the information that I have used without asking a single question.

I recently acquired a 1993 Marathon controller cart with a bad controller. I have a rusted out 2001 TXT that is currently being torn apart for a frame rebuild. I would like to use the controller from the TXT in the Marathon. The TXT is ITS the Marathon is potentiometer. Can this be done?

I did the same thing in my cart. You'll need to use the ITS assembly and make a linkage so your foot pedal will operate it. I can't give you a step by step, as my cart is different from yours. If your reasonably handy with tools, you won't have a problem!

OR you could bite the bullet and buy the entire assyembly, pedal and all and bolt it into the frame....but its a little pricey, $250

You are best off finding a controller that has a 0-5k throttle input to work with your cart. We have 400a Controller and HD solenoid packages starting at $369.

Thank you all for the tips. I am likely to work on the fabrication. I do have the entire assembly from the old cart, which somehow stayed in good condition, but it does not fit in the marathon. I want to make sure the cart works before spending more dollars. I will post pics as it develops!

I used only the black plastic box portion of the ITS. I used a piece of nylon tubing to keep the plunger centered in the coil and a bicycle brake cable from the pedal to the rod on the ITS. If you decide this is the way you want to go, it's cheap and allows you to mount the box pretty much anywhere you want! I did this when my original controller went south, and found the ITS and controller in the junkyard. I think I paid $25 for both parts! Sit there and have a few beers ( or drink of choice ) and look at it for awhile. You'll figure out how to do it! The nice thing is you won't have to destroy any of these parts, and they can be put back on the other cart when you get the rust fixed.
