Oh yeah, you never want to turn the belt inside-out & bend it either. That belt is junk.

Yup, belt is probably too long to boot. Pick up a new drive belt and note that 1988 TAKES A SPECIAL BELT! Site sponsors should have it, I like golfcartking.com, they have this one > http://www.golfcartking.com/EZGO-Dri...88-p/10978.htm

Also a good time to do the starter belt since the drive belt has to come off to change it anyhow, pays to have nice new belts at the same time. It's this one > http://www.golfcartking.com/EZGO-Sta...on-p/11029.htm

Thanks for all the information sorry its been so long getting back working on the cart been a cold winter but I am back working on it. I got a new belt but still don't move right acts like belt it slipping.
With the belt off the clutch moves in and out just fine but with belt on it hardly moves. It is a comet duster clutch, I took the clutch apart spring is OK and the pucks look OK but i see sum rust here are some pics any ideas

PS it has all 9 pucks in it and they are marked 7/8 on them from what i have read is that normally to have all 9 pucks in
