Default Aftermarket Rear Fender Eztentions

I just received new rear fender extensions for my 88 Marathon . I can tell already they are not a good fit . I thought I caught a mention of this on another thread , tried searching for it with no luck. Have any of you guys installed these extensions and what did you do to fit them . I was thinking of heating them to fit . Any good ideas ? .Don

Here are some pictures 230 is the extension bolted at the bottom , you can see the ext. looks like it was made for a fender that is cut off at a 90 degree angle instead of an angle . 233 and 232 the ext. is on the fender but does not fit the lower leg of the body . Don

They actually look pretty good to me. The biggest issue I had was getting all the bolts in.
Install the bolts first, just finger tight, then install the lower plate and rivets. The plastic will twist around to line up. Then move the top part around if you have to and tighten the bolts

You do have the metal plates right !!! that will make them form to the fender when bolted down. Just thinking LOU

I got some more pictures of these aftermarket exts. #238 I took a pencil and centered the middle hole . #236 shows how it is too wide for the plate about 3/8" on both sides . #234 I sled the plate to one side. #235 the same thing . When I hold the top of the ext. to the fender it over laps the fender about a 1/4" on ether side . I attached the two lower bolts , it had rivets originally , and it pulls away from the fender and when I bend it around to fit it is to low on the outside corner. I guess I will try to heat them into place and re drill the holes . If any other ideas Please chime in . Don

heat is always your friend with almost all the Marathon trim pieces, cowl cap, fender caps, etc - they almost never want to drop right into place. Take your time, gentle heat, and You should be fine
