Default 2011 gas TXT new to me

First gas cart I've bought in a long time... Lifted the seat only to find a Kawasaki 400 and clutches on the wrong side

Thoughts and impressions on these carts? Improvements for low speed operation?

I love my Kawasaki drivetrain!
- I'm not sure what year EZ-GO started installing them but the later model carts come with a TEAM clutch from the factory.
- My 2015 climbs steep hills better than my old 1999 gas TXT.
- I know you want slow speed improvements but... I adjusted the governor up to 28mph on mine.

New fuel, filters, plug, and some oil. I started it up. I am getting a strong ping (sounds like knock under heavy acceleration). My question is could valve adjustment attribute to this? Sounds like timing or poor fuel ping? Engine does seem to be hot after a short run.

The new Kawasaki 400s just make a lot of noise because they are single cylinder thumpers.. Mine now has the Team clutches and will climb like a beast.. 4k RPM is what I have heard is the fastest you really want to push it and brew claims if you push the tranny to too many RPMs the plastic governor gears may explode.. Only problem I have with mine is the starter seems weak.. Brand new battery and it will sometimes not start when it gets warm unless I roll the clutch past TDC..

I googled the problem and it seems to be fuel detonation. I'm going to see if I can find the source. Some possibilities are
1. low octane fuel
2. timing too far advanced
3. engine too hot

Possibly a valve issue but I believe these use hydraulic lifters. Maybe one is stuck ??

Found this from an old post

Octane booster seems to have fixed it
