St problems HELP!
On this 2006 ST Clays cart when I got it it had 3.5 hours on it, the guy I bought it from cleaned the carb, fuel lines, new fuel filter. I have been driving it around today it has 5 hours on it now, it seemed slow but the governor is set to the factory. It seems very hot(you can feel heat around the choke and through the seat). Cranks over 10 or 15 seconds before it starts and slowly builds speed. And has a bounce that makes you think one of the tires is square.
If the carb picked up some more junk could that cause the running hot and slow start/take off???? I am jacking it up soon and trying to spin the wheels to see if one is bent or out of round. Help! Any ideas on these problems would be great. Thanks Mike |

Re: St problems HELP!
Ok just some more input. Took it for a 15 minute ride and when I got back the passenger side rear wheel and hub felt warm the drivers side was so hot I couldn't touch it. I don't know why but I know it's not correct. And is adding to the bounce.
Any ideas on what it could be? Do I need any special tools to pull the brake drums? Thanks Mike |

Re: St problems HELP!
your brakes are hanging up you need to pull the drums and see what you have going on , the engine and the clutches will overcome the brake and cause these problems

Re: St problems HELP!
I have done the brakes on a Yamaha and the drum just slides off, how do the brakes drums on a Ezgo come off? Do I need a puller of some kind? If so what type?
Thanks Mike |

Re: St problems HELP!
the center hub comes off with that big nut and cotter pin then the drum should slide off the hub if it does not come off easily , simply reinstall the tire but not the center hub nut and try pulling it with tire attached most will pop right off , when reassembling you need to make sure to antiseize the shaft and that you tighten the nut as tight as possible it calls for 150 ft lbs but we just go as tight as we can with a 36"breaker bar to line up some holes for a cotter pin, never back off the nut to line up holes ever!

Re: St problems HELP!
You shouldn't need a puller but it does sound like your brake hub is hung up. Probably the cable if it sat that long. Jack it up and pull the wheel. On jack stands, with the brake pedal released gently tap the brake lever on the back of the brake housing towards the back of the cart then see if you can spin that hub by hand. If yes, you should be able to pull that hub and make sure all is clean.. If it is the cable you might ba able to take it out and free it up.
