Default 93 ezgo stalls after about a half hour

We have a 93 ezgo with the 295. Took it for a spin the other day, and about a half hour into the drive, it started stalling. I pulled the choke, it went about 10 feet, and started stalling again. When I pumped on the gas pedal it would move a few more feet before stalling again. Choking sometimes would help but sometimes wouldn't make a difference. It was basically 5 feet forward, stall, and 10 seconds later it would go another 5 feet, etc. I was able to limp it back home this way which was maybe 1/4-1/2 mile. Valves needed adjusted so did that. I also installed a new fuel pump since flow seemed a little slow and all new fuel lines. Carb is only a month or so old. Took it on another drive the next day. It started right up like usual so off we went. I went the same route as the day before. It started acting up at exactly the same spot which was about a half hour into the drive. I kind of figured it was the coil. I checked for spark which was good and strong. I bench tested it and got 4.7 ohms.

We got this cart from my in-laws but I rebuilt the engine for them a few years back. I believe it needs new rings again. Pretty sure he ran it low on oil a few times. Compression is a little low at about 120 in both cylinders. I was thinking maybe low compression but wouldn't have the engine been plenty hot well before so any expanding would have already taken place? I guess I really need to check compression while it's happening.

Anyone else ever run into anything like this?

Thanks in advance for any help.
