1985 EZ GO 2 cycle
Im in the process of doing a top end rebuild. While getting the buggy home, and diagnosing the no-start issue, I found the coil to be arcing at the cable. My question is this. Will any older aftermarket coil with a + and - work or am I stuck with paying 85+ for the factory one? I don't see why it wouldn't but id like to ask the pro's first before I just start making trips to the auto parts store.
Thanks Guys, Chris |

I used a $15 coil from amazon.

My plan was to use this, and cut the two wires off the original, crimp some eyelets and put it back together.

measure the two small terminals on coil, they need to be 3.5 ohms or more, If not .they could overheat ignitor. Besides that coil should work, be sure and get polarity correct.
