Re: 84 Yamaha G1 ( calling all pro’s )
There is a black wire that comes out of the CDI unit that is supposed to be connected/grounded to the magneto. Check if this is connected to the black wire coming from the magneto.

Re: 84 Yamaha G1 ( calling all pro’s )
update :
So the short of the long is yep I got it running . For what ever reason I had compression of about 125psi. Had good spark , and fuel to the carb , but it wouldn’t run . Put a capful of gas in the plug hole and it would run for a few seconds . After about 5-6 hrs of rechecking the reeds pulling the carb dumping the bowl running wire through the jets ect ect. The cart still wouldn’t run . Poured an ounce & half of premix down the plug hole and she ran . It’s been running ever since with no issues . I don’t really understand what or why but it seems like there was some airlock or maybe something plugging the fuel and cleared through when the engine finally receding up . No clue . Anyhow thanks everyone for chiming in :) |

Re: 84 Yamaha G1 ( calling all pro’s )
My experience is once you pull the carby off it takes ages and ages for the fuel to fill the bowl and get into the motor....I held the pedal(starter) down while spraying starter in the air intake carby....it ran while I sprayed until it pumped the fuel thru...then it ran on its own.It took a long time...It seemed a long time...like a cpl of minutes maybe...It was not just a plug/hook up and play so to speak.
