Yeah....I agree, gotta be something amiss with the air intake....Is it a new air cleaner and you didn't put to much oil in the foam surround did you?

yes, I made witness marks. It now is running perfect except when any type of air obstruction is placed on air filter side of carb.. Even just placing the rubber canister hose on carb causes it to run rich and blacken (soot) plug.

what is your pilot screw set at?

I may have missed this but are you premixing and if so what ratio?

I have tried 1, 1 1/2, and 1 3/4 settings. It still uses the autolube pump. On that subject can anyone recommend the best oil to use? Thanks

I wonder if the oil pump has failed? I think they are designed to fail at full oil injection. This is just a guess. Maybe try premixing in a separate container and and plugging off the injection pump. again just guessing.

Oil pump seems to be working as getting some smoke and can smell oil. It's been running ok today without air filter attached until just now when I came to a stop and kept it at idle. It loaded up and it's seams to have some carb blow back. Could this be a reed issue?

Turns out it was the carb. I found a used OEM at local shop and that fixed the problem.. Thanks to all. Great forum

yea those things are hit and miss. Some here have missed a few times in a row but sometimes they are needed to keep these old machines running. Glad the OP got it going. I love these old carts
