Default Yamaha G2A Forward/Reverse lever

I'm trying to install an aftermarket body on my Yamaha G2A but am unable to figure out how to remove the forward/reverse lever. Removed the 12mm locknut on the slotted screw under the seat but nothing seems free. Any suggestions?

Once the nut is off, pull the "cam" (what the cables are attatched to). There will be an "e ring" that holds the lever shaft in place.
