Driven clutch removal
The driven clutch on the rear end seems to be STUCK! beat on it, pickle fork, Pry bar, and LOTS of PB Blaster
1997 EZgo 4 Stroke, anything I am missing here? I just took the bolt out of the side and it "Should" come off - right? |

Re: Driven clutch removal
Well I am sure you removed the bolt If you have used PB blaster then don't use a pry bar, just use a rubber style hammer and start working on it. I let mine sit for a little bit and little by little it started to come off.

Re: Driven clutch removal
Mine was not coming off either. P. B. Blaster and i think the key was about 3 or 4 ice cold beers. Then it slid right off. I dont think prying on it helped. I repeat 3 or 4 ice cold beers.

Re: Driven clutch removal
The last cart i had that i needed to replace the clutch on, took me 2 days before i got it off. I kept soaking it in PB Blaster and hitting the **** out of it with a good sized rubber hammer. I even hammered it like I was putting it on. that seemed to help. Only suggestion i can make is keep hammering/prying on it. it will/might come off

Re: Driven clutch removal
The PB Blaster needs a little time to work.... Not real sure if it matters whether you spend that time beating on it or drinking cold ones It just has to sink in and disolve the rust ... reapply often

Re: Driven clutch removal
The last one I worked on took about 2 hrs to free it loose.

Re: Driven clutch removal
It doesn't take much to make that a nightmare. They can really suck. Grease it or use anti-sieze when you re-install it. Save some time next time!

Re: Driven clutch removal
Yeah I bought the cart used.. and it was a MESS when I got it.. I have been soaking it w/ PB - have the cart tilted a little to keep the puddle in the rust area.
Just beat on it every so often.. Need to get it off, so I can repair the clutch, We put a sled motor in this one and we have a grass drag coming up this weekend we want to race it! |
