Try looking at the sticky with the manuals in it..... Take a look at how the CVT clutch system works and go from there. Once you see that , you will have a good concept of how the system works and where to look for your problem. Keep us updated! BTW, that cable is art of what helps keep the motor from over revving, so if you don't want to just rip it out then you can play with its adjustment to get the rpms where you want them. Just a thought.

The Drive Clutch is still sticking once in a while. So I just ordered the bolt to use to pull the clutch off. I got the middle bolt removed, and the three outside ones out. Just got to wait for puller to show up. What should I be looking for once I get the clutch removed? Do I just tighten the bolt puller in there and tighten it up, and clutch pops off? I have never really messed with clutches

You only need the center bolt out... Use a grease gun and squirt some grease in the hole... Insert the puller and start the threads... Use an impact wrench and it'll pop right off.

Btw, once you get it out, you can try looking inside and cleaning it up but it may be easier to search for a used one and try that... I replaced mine with a used one which I found by posting in the appropriate section of this site.

I got the bolt today to pop the drive clutch loose. That worked great. But trying to remove the clutch from the cart is causing a few issues. I loosened the motor mount bolts. But just can't get it to quite clear the axle. Do they make some kind of tool to compress the clutch so maybe I would get more clearance? Thanks

You may try jacking the cart up to get the clearance you need. Worth a shot

On my 86 I had to completely undo the engine mount bolt at the rear on the passenger side and then gently jack up the engine on that side. This lifted the engine away from the frame just a few inches in order to allow the clutch to clear. Once you get the clutch off you can blow out all the road debris and dry lube it.
