Too much gas
It's been a while since I have been on here other than reading other post. I just did a complete rebuild on my 91 3pg 2 cyc. Now I have a problem with gas filling the crankcase and flooding everything out filling the air filter tube. Any sujestions on this?
Thank You and have a great day |

Re: Too much gas
The float is probably stuck. Mine did the same thing. It will siphon gas out of the tank until the fuel level gets low enough that it can't anymore.

Re: Too much gas
Did this start since you adjusted the float, or did you adjust the float to try and fix the issue?

Re: Too much gas
It started as soon as I tried to start it after the rebuild then I started to mess with the carb. I since then learned that it could be that the lower diagramed on the fuel pump could be broken,, I will get into this when I get to it. Sometime Monday or Tuesday. Thanks

Re: Too much gas
A torn diaphram in the pump will be able to fill the crankcase with fuel, but it is highly unlikely that it will allow it into the air intake.

Re: Too much gas
If gas is getting all the way through the carburetor, and going out to the air cleaner, I would not suspect the fuel pump diaphragm.
That is more like an overflow condition caused by a needle not setting in its seat. Possible causes would be dirt jamming the needle valve, sunk float, or mis-adjusted float. I suppose in the rare condition of a reed valve failure, pressure from the piston on the up stroke could also push the fuel out to the air cleaner. When he changes the carburetor, we will get a better idea of what is happening. |

Re: Too much gas
Except to diagnose a fuel pump problem takes about a minute.
