One place was the plumb quick website where it talks about the bandit motor. 3/4 way down the page it talks about installing the solenoid.

*Heavy duty 36 or 48 volt solenoid* and diode $180.00

Note: Solenoid MUST be mounted upright!
How many solenoids is that for?
Seriously I believe the upright position offers the least amount of mechanical resistance.

Haha, one of the reasons I'm buying everything from you Scotty! Expect to see my order come through soon from everything we have discussed via email....The Private Mechanic

So you agree it should be mounted upright if at all possible as it will yield the best result?

Unlike a reversing contactor, the main solenoid contacts should never make/break under load so the velocity of the actuating arm is not quite as critical in a golf cart application.

Read the comment on the middle of the page in the official manufacturer site.

I agree. The contact bridge is moving (for lack of a better description) up and down on a stationary shaft. To mount sideways or invert is to add mechanical resistance to the movement.

I recommend that you seek advice on this matter from the solenoid manufacturer. If you are using a real Albright solenoid, with an Albright sticker on it, you can find the mounting information here:
