85 2 stroke pulsar timing
Hello new to this forum I have 85 ezgo 2 stroke the pulsar adjustment seems to make no difference in performance cart runs awesome in reverse but sputters forward engine has new seals and compression is 140 both ways. Has new carb and oil injector has been removed I cant find a timing mark anywhere to check to see exactly where I am set at any help would be appreciated thanks

In post #22, you will find the 85 manual. Pages L-14 to L-18 deal with timing.
https://buggiesgonewild.com/showthre...=105501&page=3 Did you do anything with the piston? Factory compression is only 120 PSI. |

Re: 85 2 stroke pulsar timing
Thank you very much. I have not done anything to the engine except new belts and cleaned out muffler or expansion chamber whatever they call it

Re: 85 2 stroke pulsar timing
Have you driven it at all? Forward, or reverse?

Re: 85 2 stroke pulsar timing
Yes I have driven it both ways it was faster in reverse then forward i had to make slots in pulsar ring longer to get to 30 degrees timing forward runs good now and reverse is sluggish

Re: 85 2 stroke pulsar timing
That's strange. the ring should be centered in the middle of the slots to get the perfect timing.
I wonder if the key on the flywheel has sheared. |

Re: 85 2 stroke pulsar timing
30*? No wonder it's sluggish in reverse, normal timing is 18* forward which gives reverse about the same or a hair more. Remember the general rule, the farther you advance the timing the hotter it will run. Easier to get away with (to a point) in a liquid cooled engine but very critical in an air cooled, be careful
