Default charger wont charge at high amps anymore

hi i have a 96 ezgo with pwerwise charger and it wont charge at 20 amps like it use to now when i plug it in it only goes up to about 12 amps and it seems to shut off to soon, does the transformer have a low and high amp windings ? thanks for any input

Check the pack voltage before the charge,
And again 1 hour after .

It could be U are driving less so it need less .

i dont think its that because i plugged another charger up to it and it goes to 20 amps, and plug my charger up to the other cart and it only goes to 12 amps

Good test , that would have been my next suggestion

Knowing the above, about the only thing left is a shorted winding in the transformer.

Have a dealer check it ! Good luck and keep us posted .

sorry but i'm a do it yourselfer ,,, how do i check the transformer with a volt meter, i'm sort of handy with some good direction

and again when i plug the charger in to the cart it starts at12 amps and goes down from there instead of starting at 20 amps and going down no matter how low the batts are

All charger test are different , do you have the manual for the charger.
If no then post everything written on the charger, manufacturer, model type ...etc. Everything ?

Have you verified that your amp gauge is correct?

Check battery voltage while charging, that will tell you if the charger is working correctly.

12 amps is good, or the meter might be getting stuck at the 12 amp mark.
