Default PDS Motor Upgrade

I have recently purchased a 2006 Ezgo PDS cart. I am having mods done and am throwing everything at it so that I will not have to come back and do them later. It will have a 4" lift kit with bigger wheels and tires. I am upgrading to 4 gauge wires, 500 amp controller, and a HD solenoid. The dealer is telling me that the cart came stock with a 2.5HP motor and that an upgrade to 4.5HP will be plenty. I explained that this will mainly be used to drive kids back and forth to the neighborhood pool, but will see some action at my deer lease. I am looking for a good blend of speed and torque.

Will the 4.5HP motor give me what I am looking for or should I go bigger. Any cetain brand and model number that might give me the speed/torque combo that I am looking for?

Any help would be appreciated.

Default Re: PDS Motor Upgrade

IMO i would run it like it is until you need to upgrade. run the 500 with 4 gas wires and see how you like. If you still want more than send your motor off to EMP (site sponsor) and they will up the performance level for you for fraction of price of a new one. They are real nice and very helpfull.

I Just got one back, installed it in the beast cart (modified ezgo cart) , half charged battery pack (according to gauge), 400 amp controller, 4 gas wires and it would pick the frt tires up off the floor 2-3 inches. I didn't charge the pack and see what it would do due to cust wanted cart back.
