Default Can you dummy down an XCT 500?

Can you dummy down an Alltrax 500 amps ! *XCT48500-IQ controller. Meaning, make it so it can not go over 300 (or maybe 400) amps. Reason being I'm running a stock GE motor and I really don't want to burn it up.

When time and money becomes available I would upgrade the motor and turn up the controller amps if that's possible. I know you can program those things, just don't know if that's one of their parameters a user can modify.

I'm doing this in stages, and it makes the most sense to do this next and forego the speed code 4 expense (keeping regen,) and use that $$$ toward a controller. Also it appears the 500 has a fan standard which (to me) is a good thing.

Yes, you can set it up for the stock motor and then turn it up when you get the rest of your pieces. It just has to be programmed. I believe they have a map for the stock motors.

Your dealer can update the software & custom program the control to suit your motor and your needs before shipping. Amperage limits can certainly be adjusted and you can have 3 different levels set using the FNKS. I know one dealer who will do this for free if you buy the controller and FNKS together.
The Alltrax software (aka toolkit) is a free download here > http://www.alltraxinc.com/Products_XCT.html
See the manual explaining how to program and what parameters can be changed here > http://www.alltraxinc.com/files/Doc1...kit-Manual.pdf

I hope this helps

CM, we know the dealer, so be sure to buy from him.... I guess he is being modest but his initials are sb and his site is CU and he has posted in this thread.... Lol!

Now for anyone who misses this, PM me, scottyb or Cruise Master for more info.

BTW- CM, I know you know all this, I'm just having some fun....

I'm happy to help... for almost no cost you can use a toggle switch to switch between two operating modes. Amperage and throttle rates as well as speed limits can easily be set very differently in each mode.
The FNKS allows 3 modes and regen adjustment on the fly.

CM, im currently running the xct 48500 on a ezgo pds with stock motor. I must have used the dealer that nolefan was speaking of. Mine came programmed and ready to go. Our plans for future upgrades sound similar. I'm loving mine.

It's a great controller.
The 500 controller/solenoid pkg is a bargain. You get the fan and the bigger solenoid for not much more than the 400 combo. The XCT500 will run ANY aftermarket motor you want later on down the road.

Funny thing about that site sponsor you mention, when I go back into BGW threads that are over 3 years old the forum members from back then were still singing praise about his service and knowledge on the topic. Got to be doing something right (and getting pretty good at it) after all this time.
