Default Testing Solenoid

I am back same golf cart 2000 DS 48volt, place a new controller Alltrax 300 amp on 11/04/14. Now I am pretty sure my solenoid is bad, but is there a thread I can review, can I jump the heavy yellow to red?
Thank you

Are you running an HD or regular solenoid?

Ok, so you have a stock unit

Even with the 300 amp Alltrax, it probably isn't a bad idea to get 200a/800a peak solenoid. For testing it, jump the large posts

ok may have found a bad cable, (burnt). But I need to go to town, live in the mountains, can I get a better solenoid at the auto supply store?

I'd try to repair the cable first. As for the solenoid, it would need to be a 48v continuous duty. I'd recommend going with ScottyB @ Carts Unlimited for the solenoid. He is having a winter sale now with great prices
